Ms. Rosalyn Henderson-Myers (formerly Rosalyn Mattingly) having a diverse legal background for over 30 years has counseled and represented clients in thousands of bench trial cases and has tried over 120 jury trials to verdict where she boasts a 90 percent win ratio. She has represented both corporate and individual clients in the areas of family law, criminal law, probate law, personal injury, bankruptcy, social security disability, corporate defense, and general civil litigation. She is a certified arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). She formerly served as a certified arbitrator with the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. In South Carolina, Mrs. Henderson-Myers is a South Carolina certified arbitrator and family court mediator. Mrs. Henderson-Myers has been licensed to practice law in South Carolina since 2005. Due to family obligations, she has traveled and practiced law in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Pennsylvania. She is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court and several United States Federal District Courts including the District of South Carolina and the South Carolina Bankruptcy Court. 

 

Ms. Henderson-Myers is a former Alabama State Court Judge, 28 th Judicial Circuit, where she presided over 12, 000 cases her first year alone involving contracts, small claims, criminal misdemeanors, family law, juvenile law and civil litigation. Prior to returning to her home state of South Carolina Ms. Henderson-Myers served as a corporate attorney for Allstate Insurance Company in Philadelphia, PA where she represented clients in automobile accident and premises liability cases. 

 

Always active, she is involved in politics and in serving her community. She formerly served as City Councilmember for District 3 of the City of Spartanburg. SC and is Representative for SC House District 31. She is a graduate of Spartanburg Citizens Academy 2014, Leadership Spartanburg 2016, Leadership South Carolina 2019, University of Virginia Darden School of Business Leadership Institute Fellow 2019, 2021 South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health Fellow, and 2022 Furman DEI Institute. She has formerly sat on the boards of Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra, National Council of Negro Women, South Converse Neighborhood Association, Converse College Board of Visitors, and the National Bar Association Board of Governors where she served as the first South Carolinian to chair the prestigious Women Lawyers Division. While living in Florida, she was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush and upon approval of the Florida Senate served on the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council. Currently she serves nationally on the American Bar Association Commission on Opportunities for Women in the Legal Profession. 

 

Locally, Ms. Henderson-Myers is a member and former President of the Spartanburg Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and former President of the Spartanburg Chapter of The Links Inc. In addition, she serves on the boards of the South Carolina Black Lawyers Association and the Spartanburg County Bar Association. Her memberships include the South Carolina Association of Justice, South Carolina Bankruptcy Lawyers Association, the J. Bratton Davis Inn of Court, and the Spartanburg Southside Lions Club. She attends Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and sings in the Sanctuary church choir. 

 

Her awards include three (3) Presidential Awards from the National Bar Association for Outstanding Leadership. In addition, in 2018 she received the National Bar Association Presidential Award for 2018 Division of the Year (Women Lawyers Division), the association’s largest division of lawyers. In 2019, she was added to the National Bar Association Scroll of Distinguished Women Lawyers. She is a two-time Citizen of the Year awardee of Epsilon Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Inc., an Outstanding Young Women of America awardee, and has garnered numerous other awards. 

 

A highly sought-after speaker, Ms. Henderson-Myers has delivered speeches and moderated conferences in more than 15 states throughout the United States. Internationally, she has served as a speaker in Canada, Puerto Rico, South America, Nigeria and Sierra Leone Africa, and the African Diaspora International Women’s Conference in Dubai. 

 

Always willing to give back to others in gratitude for her many blessings, she has served as an adjunct professor of Trial Advocacy at the University of Florida School of Law, faculty member of the Florida Bar Association Prosecutor/Public Defender School, and formerly as an Instructor at the Baldwin County (AL) Criminal Justice Academy. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, SC. 

 

Ms. Henderson-Myers is widowed to the late Dr. Kenneth Myers, Sr. and has two daughters, Dr. Katrina A Mattingly-Carther, an emergency medicine physician and obesity practitioner, and Monique R. Mattingly, a medical student. She is the proud grandmother of Logan, Channing, and Ari. 

 

Ms. Henderson-Myers is a graduate of Spartanburg High School, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, a Juris Doctorate degree from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, LA and is currently in the Executive PHD program at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. She also holds an Honorary Doctorate degree in Humane Letters from the FMI Biblical Studies & Seminary. Her motto is “Be the change you want to see in the world “
